2018-2019 School year in Exeter Language Club was busy and successful. The main focus of the club was to help children learn foreign languages and understand different cultures. Individual lessons for Adult students were offered too.
Children, parents and teachers were engaged in many activities that helped to learn Russian and learn Chinese in practical and fun ways.
Here are just a few of the school year highlights.
The Russian schemed bilingual Christmas Play by the Exeter Language Club performers was the Club’s Show of the Year.
Exeter Language Club offered a First Class bilingual performance for the club members and Exeter community with all tickets sold out a month in advance.
Exeter Children had a chance to meet famous Baba Yaga, who definitely lived up to the expectations, Snow Maiden (Снегурочка) and, of course, Father Frost (Дед Мороз) himself.
Exeter language club children shown amazing skills by introducing the Christmas Fairy tail in both languages at the same time – Russian and English. The audience had a chance to emerge into the Slavic traditional Christmas and New Year performance with the modern twist, learn some Russian, while being able to follow the story even without the knowledge of Russian language.
After getting their presents from the Father Frost at the end, everyone was dancing away at the disco party with the “snow” – just the right way to open the Christmas season.
The teachers and children from the Chinese Language club - Beanstalk Mandarin Kids did an amazing job in organizing Chinese New Year celebration for the Exeter Language Club members and their families. There were many traditional activities to participate in, and of course, the Chinese food that no one could miss. Many Exeter children learn Chinese language in our club and the groups grow year by year.
Russian Language for children is not only about the langusage, its about some very tasty traditions too! Oour children had good fun learning about the Russian traditional Pancakes week, and made the traditional straw dolls “Maslenitza”. Pancakes with Nutella went for a treat!
Children from the Russian Language group have learned about the Second World War Victory Day, huge losses that happened during the war, and how Russia and former Soviet Union republics were fighting alone side with the UK, USA, Poland and many other countries to make Victory Day happen.
And all set for the summer holidays (and practicing Russian and Chinese too!)
